Tarot has been in existence for many years, so far back, it is difficult to trace exactly where they started and how. I have been enamored by the tarot since I was a child. Sneaking into my mother's nightstand drawer to pull out her hidden Rider Waite deck, I would look at the images and imagine myself one day understanding the messages each card had to say. As an adult, I eventually tapped into the gift I realized I had, and as I have matured more into my spirituality, I have grown to understand that the deck is not about divining the future, but it is meant to bring to our consciousness that which we hold in our subconsciousness. Even Carl Jung referenced the tarot, pointing out the archetypes in each card, and some believe it can be incorporated in therapy to help the individual understand who they are, why it is they do what they do, and to consider the different paths that may or may not lead to one's overall sense of happiness and fulfillment. At one point, I thought I had coined the term Tarot Therapy...but alas, someone beat me to it. But I wasn't disappointed, because this discovery only reinforced what I learned through my years of experience reading the cards for others in search of answers. As an initiate in the religion of Santeria, a spiritualist at the core, and as a professional mental health worker, I offer a different flavor of care when it comes to understanding you, your life path, and helping you understand your options in life. Tarot is not going to give you the answers you want, but will give you the insight you need, and I will be there to serve as an interpreter and mediator.
